A fun dinner idea: having a primary school-themed meal set served in a space decked out to look like a bilik darjah

The evening involved us retrieving cutleries from our Spiderman school bag, and playing lawan pemadam.

Nasi Campur Iga Set @ Waroeng Iga, 1 Utama

When the craving for something wholesome with a spicy twist hits (a highly specific craving but a very real craving nonetheless…), this impressive rice set at the much-loved Indonesian eatery ranks high on our priority list.

Not letting its namesake down, Waroeng Iga is a crowd favourite in 1 Utama for their tender, flavourful Indonesian-style beef ribs (iga)!

Mix & Match Set Menu @ Sushi King

Price Range: Mid-range
Cuisine: Japanese
Catphobia-Friendly?: Yes
Pork-free (refer to note at the end of the post for further clarification)

Our peak levels of indecisiveness usually strike the moment we step into a Japanese restaurant. Every single thing on the menu is amazing but there’s only so much stomach space (and not forgetting budget!) to go by. To go with the salmon don or the tenpura udon? The saba kabayaki or the salmon karaage?

So we dropped by Sushi King the other day after a long time, and found that they’ve introduced a Mix and Match Set – smaller portions of Japanese favourites that you can have as a set! Perfect!

Franco @ 1Utama

Price Range : Slightly splurge-y (mains are mostly RM20 and above)
Cuisine: Japanese-French fusion
Cat-phobia-Friendly?: Yes
Pork-free (some dishes have traces of alcohol, which they highlight in the menu)

Franco has got it going on in this busy street in OU for quite a while now, though some may have known it by its previous label, Miam Miam. We're sincerely glad Franco won the name battle ;)

We’ve been bidding ‘How you doin’?’ to Joey’s pizzas for far too long. A worrying habit, we realize. Stop taunting us, Joey!

Lucky for us, we can now put our Friends rerun binges on hold and say hello to a proper fold-in-half-to-fit-in-your-mouth piece of New York pizza!

The Bites Cafe @ Lake Fields Sg Besi

Price Range : Mid-range

Catphobia-Friendly? : Yep!

Whenever we try a new restaurant, the first bite would usually determine whether or not we were in for a good time. Aptly enough, every single bite at Bites is hypnotic, exciting, and satisfying right to the very end.

Ayam Kampung Publika @ Damansara Perdana

Price Range : Budget

Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes, despite it being open air!

We were having this discussion the other day on the ultimate test to see whether someone truly knows you or not: if they can buy you a plate of nasi campur that contains all the lauk you would’ve picked yourself, you’ve got yourself a soul mate!

Anyways, on a slightly unrelated note...for a less daunting nasi campur dining option, check out Ayam Kampung Publika!

Fikcles @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

At a glance, Fikcles fits right in with the current quirky café troupe with its adorably-painted façade and its coffee-scented interior. But scan through the menu and you’ll find this genius creation that sets this cosy café significantly apart:

Tasty Chapathi @ Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur

Fancy foods in a comfy, casual space? You're looking for FIQS Gastronomy. Tucked away in a random corner of SS19, the unassuming little eatery is truly a breath of fresh air!

The menu is delicate and thoughtful, and we had quite the debate trying to decide on our dinner dishes!

We are happy to report that our procrastination has finally come to a complete halt. The Sizzling Brownie with Oreo Ice Cream (RM 19) is, easily, one of the most genius offerings to grace the foodscapes of KL!

Funnily enough, it's not too easy to find poached eggs for breakfast around Taman Tun area (besides the magnificent ones at Mukha). Turning to Foursquare for help, we were pointed to an unlikely destination for good, runny poached eggs... A big hurray for Tappers Cafe!

We Finally Caught Up with Royal Post's Coffee Truck!

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Coffee!
Recommended For : A cup of coffee that comes with a challenge
Catphobia-Friendly? : Depending on the location, we suppose

After months of stalking Royal Post’ Instagram uploads, we rounded the corner to work today and were ecstatic to find the signature red-white-black coffee truck parked in front of the office! Finally, we were able to give this elusive traveling cup of coffee a try! (You know how we love them elusive eats, from our Humble Chef-stalking days).
