We’ve
been bidding ‘How you doin’?’ to Joey’s pizzas for far too long. A worrying
habit, we realize. Stop taunting us, Joey!
Lucky
for us, we can now put our Friends rerun binges on hold and say hello to a
proper fold-in-half-to-fit-in-your-mouth piece of New York pizza!
Fold
them in half and fit them in our mouths, we did! Pizzas at Mikey’s are
available by slice and also whole. We like going by slice, as it gives us more
room to test out their range of flavours. Here are some of our favourites:
When
in doubt, go for the Classic New York
Pizza (RM8.88 per slice), with its herbed tomato sauce base, topped with
mozzarella and olive oil. So simple, but oh man, can’t even begin to describe
how satisfying this is!
One
type of excellent meat after another adorns the super smooth Tony Soprano (RM15.88 per slice), from
pepperoni to mini steak slices to meatball bits. They definitely do not skimp
on cheese here; hello mozzarella!
We absolutely
loved the smashed meatballs and had a slice dedicated solely to these: the Meatball Pizza (RM10.88 per slice).
No pizza night is
complete without one of our ultimate pizza toppings: mushrooms! Mama’s Wild Mushroom Pizza (RM12.88 per
slice) is one part shitake and ten parts awesome!
What’s
a New York-inspired meal without buffalo wings? We absolutely love the Boneless Buffalo Chicken (RM12.88), deep-fried
breaded chicken doused in Mikey’s signature buffalo sauce. They come with a
roll-eyes-to-heaven-its-that-good blue cheese dip.
After
all this while of wondering about what a New
York Egg Cream (RM9) would taste like, we finally grabbed a glass of this
milk-chocolate syrup-soda water concoction. As the ingredients suggest, it
tastes like fizzy chocolate milk, which really is not as odd as it sounds.
Have
you tried Mikey’s pizzas? Which flavour is your favourite? Let us know, comment
