Bosphorus Fine Turkish Cuisine @ Pavilion KL

Price Range : Splurge
Cuisine : Turkish
Recommended For : Desperate needs to fill up on Turkish food. Perhaps not even then.
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes

Istanbul has always held a special place in our hearts, despite the fact that it has been more than 10 years since our first encounter with the charming city. The increasingly frequent use of Istanbul as a backdrop for major movies lately only fuels our yearning to revisit its majestic mosques, food-lined streets, and of course, the beautiful Bosphorus.

Undeniably, visiting Bosphorus (the strait) immediately would require a lot more time and cash than we are prepared to spend, so we were hoping Bosphorus (the restaurant) would be a soothing consolation. Making our way to the sixth floor of Pavilion KL, we happily strode into one the rare Turkish restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.

Sushi Breakfast @ Daiwa-Zushi, Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo

Cuisine : Japanese (Sushi)
Recommended For : Finding out how sushi is MEANT to be
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes

Articles after articles about the sushi at Tsukiji Fish Market conclude with a unanimous “You will never see sushi in the same way again.” It is not hard to believe their confident claims, what with Tsukiji Fish Market being the largest seafood market in the world! Where else would you find the freshest, plumpest piece of tuna for breakfast?

Having been heavily inspired by Latin American culture these past few weeks, what with our salsa nights and digging around for obscure Chayanne films, it was not surprising that we would end up on the doorstep of Carnaval Churrascaria, vying for a taste of a true Brazilian feast!

: Definitely!

We take our penchant for Japanese food seriously, and at Jogoya, it is evident that they do too! There’s steam floating off each of their buffets counters, either from freshly-cooked dishes, or from mounds of ice keeping their seafood super fresh!

The restaurant is rather large, with each counter offering one mouth-watering dish after another, that we literally didn’t know where to start! When in doubt, always go for the sashimi! The sashimi here is pure perfection. The slices are thick and meaty, and with each bite you can feel the firmness of the fresh fish sinking under your teeth. The salmon is of course a no-brainer must-have but their butter fish sashimi is the best we’ve ever had, like ever! It literally melts in your mouth, as it should.

The Korean oysters we had were about as big as our palms (and some even bigger), and they are so fleshy and huge and incredibly fresh. Topped with a spritz of lemon juice, it is an obese piece of heaven just waiting to pleasure your tastebuds.

Satisfying Italian food cravings

Very =)

We absolutely love Italian food (well, who doesn’t, right?) and have been craving for a great Italian meal since watching Eat Pray Love. (Bob: Remember the scene where Liz was having a meal with her Italian tutor? The one where she was absent-mindedly cutting a piece of food on her plate and this delicious-looking juice squirted out of it? Yeah, I think I pressed ‘rewind’ a little too many times during this scene...)

Lucky for us, d’italiané kitchen just hits that Italian spot. The food here is crazy good! Here are some of our favourites:
