Tweet to eat? What a fascinating concept! 

We are stoked about the upcoming Nuffnang FoodFest (#NNFoodFest) happening this October, and can't wait to explore a concept very much new to us: social media currency! Yep, your smartphone is all you need at this wallets-not-required food celebration (might wanna bring along a powerbank though!).

The food fest will feature a huge array of delicacies, with around 50 food stalls to choose from, for the convenience of its attendees to savour local and international favourites all in one place. Besides tweeting and eating (tweating?), there will also be cooking competitions and food photography workshops to appeal to the fervent foodie.

This simplistic, straight-forward pizzeria was just what we needed for a hassle-free dinner! After having our energy completely drained from just an hour’s trip to the H&M HQ (between the endless stream of determined shoppers and the mindnumbingly vast array of clothing displays in the behemoth complex, we surrendered in defeat and crawled out croaking for food), the scent of baking dough and cheese invited us through the door of Joe’s Kitchen.

Kokopelli Travellers Bistro @ Section 14, PJ

We used to visit Kokopelli quite frequently back when it was located near University Hospital, long ago. One of the times that we had a hankering for their superb lasagne, our visit to the restaurant was met with severe disappointment when we learned that they had closed down.

It was only last year that we found out that actually they had moved to Section 14, PJ, in the row of houses right opposite Dataran 3 Two. Walking up the jungle-y driveway and through the glass doors, we were pleased to find that the restaurant had still retained its intimate, homey charm. Beautiful in its simplicity, with white being the primary colour of the interior, it conjures memories of a cosy cafe dined at on rainy Parisian nights.

Living Food Bistro & Cafe @ Wisma Tan & Tan

We were invited to try this latest addition to the growing list of healthy eateries in KL by the cafe’s gracious owner, Philip, and we are still reeling from the experience. Yes, we’ve had our fair share of organic meals, but none comes close to Living Food! When asked what makes the food at this cafe so organic, Philip, ever ready with his interesting explanations, informed us, “We go beyond organic. It’s not just about how the ingredients are grown, but more importantly, what ingredients are actually used.”

Plan B is fast becoming one of our favourite haunts! We were recommended to try this place by quite a number of people, and we now see what all the fuss is about!

The place itself is adorable in a raw, industrial-ish way. It’s very the old school chic. Before even stepping in the restaurant, we’d already fallen in love with the stripped-down decor. It had a nice, unpretentious, industrial feel with just the right hints of kitschiness.

We absolutely love Italian food (well, who doesn’t, right?) and have been craving for a great Italian meal since watching Eat Pray Love. (Bob: Remember the scene where Liz was having a meal with her Italian tutor? The one where she was absent-mindedly cutting a piece of food on her plate and this delicious-looking juice squirted out of it? Yeah, I think I pressed ‘rewind’ a little too many times during this scene...)

Lucky for us, d’italiané kitchen just hits that Italian spot. The food here is crazy good! Here are some of our favourites:

We think part of the attraction of The Humble Chef is how elusive it is. You can’t just go, “Hey, I feel like having some of the Chef’s Lamb Pita,” at any time of the day and just waltz your way to the restaurant. Heck, it’s not even a restaurant! The Humble Chef is really a van that appears on a bridge out of nowhere, somewhere in the night... *cue eerie sci-fi music*

Keep your Monday blues at bay with Demi Tasse Cafe!

If you’re working anywhere in the Jalan Raja Chulan / Jalan Pinang area, make sure you stop by this cute cafe for lunch one of these days! With its efficient service and super cheap prices, this is the perfect lunch spot for those with limited time to spare for a meal. The menu consists of not more than 20 items, but they are more than enough for an enjoyable meal.

While we recommend Mbuji Cafe for coffee lovers, non-coffee lovers be warned! You may just be converted upon your initial sip of a cuppa here!

Mbuji (our first attempts at pronouncing this included “emmboojee” and “maaboojee” but it’s really just “boojee” :P) is fast becoming one of our favourite eateries! It’s a great place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon accompanied by a freshly-brewed cup of cappuccino. Plus, the food here is surprisingly awesome (usually, places that focus on serving good coffee don’t end up serving memorably good food. Well, in our experience anyway) so it’s a great place for a satisfying meal as well!

We figured we should probably start off the blog with one of our favourite obsessions: Kitchen Creatures! We’d discovered this place completely by chance on one random day where we’d had the unfortunate experience of having a terribly unsatisfying lunch somewhere in Damansara Uptown. Do you guys ever get this thing where if you’d had a crappy meal, you feel this need to compensate yourself with more (preferably yummier) food? While we realise it’s a very unfortunate (and not to mention highly unhealthy) habit, we just can’t help it!

Anyway, we discovered this cute little place later that night and the first thing that caught our eye was the pricing range. Most of the pastas and pizzas were only about RM10 – RM13. But then, we saw this:
