Plan B
is fast becoming one of our favourite haunts! We were recommended to try this
place by quite a number of people, and we now see what all the fuss is about!
The
place itself is adorable in a raw, industrial-ish way. It’s very the old school
chic. Before even stepping in the restaurant, we’d already fallen in love with
the stripped-down decor. It had a nice, unpretentious, industrial feel with
just the right hints of kitschiness.
A
cute, quirky welcome to Plan B.
We
fell in love with the creative usage of pipes and tubes
made to look like candles on a stick!
The
endless runs of P Ramlee movies on their flat screens, which we obviously love.
Julie: And girls, you’ve
seen those handbag hangers being sold practically everywhere, but really, how
many of us have actually picked up a set for ourselves? Well, the sweet,
gracious people at Plan B took our comfort into account and provide handbag
hangers on their tables!
May
seem like such a small gesture, but it’s little things like these that make you
go all
“Ooh,
yayness!” XD
For a
restaurant that’s located in Bangsar Village, we expected that the price may be
on the high side. But for the portion and quality of the food that you get,
this place is a steal!
This picture illustrates
our favourite, must-order-everytime-we-come-here pasta at Plan B: Moroccan Lamb Meatballs Pasta (RM19).
Yep, even the name itself got us drooling! The meatballs are incredibly tender
and packed with the finest of spices, and, coupled with the super yummy
tomato-based sauce and sprigs of fresh coriander, makes for a wholesomely
satisfying dish.
Another dish we love, the Roasted Cherry Tomatoes Pomodoro (RM 15) tastes
absolutely fresh, and it’s very lightweight! We asked them to make it a little
spicy, and the sharpness of the chilli really brought a nice kick to the
tomato-based pasta.
We also highly recommend their
Mixed Mushrooms Pasta! Though it’s
cream-based, it’s surprisingly light. May be the lemon and herb that they
incorporate into the dish.
And,
they have quite an interesting selection of salads! We have developed quite an
obsession over their Soft Shell Crab
Salad (RM19). Not sure what the salad leaves they use are called (we were
guessing something from the arugula family), but it’s got this really sharp
peppery taste that makes this salad like no other!
Moving
on to their desserts! If you can only choose one during your visit, then go for
their Lemon Meringue Tart (RM10).
There was a time when we came all the way here just to have the tart, it’s that
good! Not only does it look adorable (well, all their desserts do! Hehe), it is
THE perfect lemon meringue tart: the meringue melts oh-so-softly in your mouth,
the lemon filling is just the right balance between sweet and sour, the pastry
shell crumbles perfectly... it is a great way to cleanse your palette and round
up your meal!
If we
have to have desserts after a particularly heavy meal, we’d definitely go for
lemon tarts as they help cut that overfed feeling. Not sure what the scientific
explanation is, since you’re ingesting even more food in technically, but it
beats taking Eno anytime!
We
also bow down to the awesomeness that is their Banoffee. Well, what can we say? It’s banana and toffee done so
right! The grated dark chocolate pieces sprinkled over the top of the pie gives
the dish a bittersweet edge, which we makes us love it even more!
If we’re
not mistaken, Plan B is run by the former owner of Delicious, which may explain
why the food here is amazing. For their very reasonable price range, who can
blame us if we have a recurring itch to swing by this place again and again? ;)
