Waffles always remind us of back when we were wee little kindergarteners being taken out by our parents for a warm, maple-syrup-doused breakfast on special Saturday mornings.

When we heard there’s a cafe in Taman Tun specializing in savoury and sweet waffles, it’s hardly surprising that we made a beeline for Chequers!

Before we dove in to their range of waffle-based creations, we decided to give their Back to Basics (RM8 – additional RM3 for a scoop of vanilla ice cream) a try first. We absolute adore the fluffy sugar-dusted waffle, each square pocket made all the more delicious with butter, maple syrup and sweet berry compote. Ah, life’s little pleasures =)

The Chicken Cobb Sandwich (RM20) is our ultimate favourite here - juicy grilled chicken, crisp beef bacon, hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, and guacamole all sandwich in between a couple of warm, toasty waffles! The generous dollop of curry mayo makes it all the more irresistible! 

It gets all the wafflier with... a side serving of waffle fries!

Gotta love the Moo Moo (RM28) – Waffle burger comprising of sirloin beef patty topped with cheddar, relish, beef bacon, berry compote and barbecue sauce.

There are also non-waffley items on the menu here; the Grilled Chicken Steak (RM28) is a decent waffle-free option – grilled chicken breast on a bed of tomato-based fettucine, topped wih turkey ham-wrapped asparagus.

Wrap it all up with a hot cuppa latte, and you're good to go!
