Du Viet @ Damansara Uptown

Price Range: Mid-range
Cuisine: Vietnamese
Cat-phobia Friendly?: Yes
Halal

If it weren’t for a coincidental meet-up with friends, we wouldn’t have discovered this gorgeous Vietnamese joint. Thank goodness for random Monday meet-ups!

It seems that the restaurant is pretty quiet most nights; if only its Instagram-friendly setup is visible from the ground floor!

Surely there’s a law somewhere that states a Vietnamese meal should begin with spring rolls. There are a few types on offer here, but to try a bit of everything, we’d recommend that you spring for the Spring & Summer Combo Rolls Delite (RM23.90), fresh rice paper rolls in four delectable variations: Shrimp, Beef, Lemongrass Chicken, and the Fried kind.

Sweet chili sauce and peanut sauce are served on the side; whichever dip route you go will prove to be heavenly either way.

The soul-calming Special Mixed Beef Noodles (RM22.90), DuViet’s house specialty pho is packed with an assortment of beef favourites, from briskets, to fillets, to tripe, to beef balls in a clear, flavourful soup.

Yay for noodle salads! The Rice Vermicelli with Grilled Lamb (RM17.90) is a well-rounded dish, from its generous serving of fresh vegetables to the noodles to the smoky lamb skewers to the addictive peanut and sweet chili sauces.

BBQ Lemongrass Chicken Chop (RM16.90) is a refreshing upgrade to the standard chicken chops we’re used to. The lemongrass accent brings about an interesting dimension to the barbecued chicken, giving it a distinctly Asian taste.

The Special Drip Coffee here (especially the Iced version with Cinnamon) is beyond amazing, or so we hear anyway. We’ll be back to try it soon; keep you posted!

Congestion seems to be at an all-time high here in the day, but you could try looking for spots in the Uptown 2 Tower opposite. At night, it’s still pretty jammed but parking spots are not as scarce.

Alternatively, why not just Uber it?
