Whenever we try a new restaurant, the first bite would usually determine whether or not we were in for a good time. Aptly enough, every single bite at Bites is hypnotic, exciting, and satisfying right to the very end.

From the moment we walked into the grass-chequered entrance, we could just see this adorable little café popping up soon on Instagram feeds everywhere. The best part is, the kitschy décor and cheery ambience has equally smiley staff to match =)

Gotta love their rad collection of retro-fied film posters!

After a long day, what would be greater than winding down with coffee and conversations? This cosy little nook, with its docile dozing bears, would serve as the perfect setting.

Now, let’s get down to business. We mentioned the food is good, but just how good, you ask? Here we go.

Start with some Potato Salad (RM 9.90). Hey you there, we saw you rolling your eyes! Don’t. This is no ordinary potato salad. This is probably the first place we’ve been to that actually uses red potatoes, which are great for their firm yet tender texture. The pièce de résistance of the dish is the crisp bacon bits that greet every other bite.

Breakfast foods are gloriously featured here, and while a lot of places are jumping on the brunch-friendly menu bandwagon, Bites is one of the rare ones that a) serves a wide, imaginative range of options and b) puts a lot of thought into each dish. The pricing is way reasonable for the portion and quality of the food here.

Take The Italian (RM 14.90), for example. The fluffy frittata is jam-packed with spinach, tomatoes and peppery ham. Who wouldn’t want to wake up The Italian every morning?

Ah, the Eggs Benedict (RM 17.90). The moment the perfectly-poached Hollandaise-covered eggs arrived on our table, we knew they would be phenomenal. The eggs are accompanied by a generous slab of smoked salmon, spinach, tomatoes, and sautéed mushroom atop a good piece of toast. Oh and there’s the side salad too! Most definitely, these are the best Eggs Benedict we’ve had so far =)

Prefer your breakfast in pizza form? No problem, bring on the Breakfast Pizza (RM 14.90)! We love the thin, crispy crust. Topped with beef bacon, spinach, mushrooms, baked beans, cheese and a sunny side up, this little creation tastes like a cheery Sunday morning.

It’s A Wrap (RM 14.90) is no token vegetarian offering. It is a mind-blowing dish in its own right, especially due to its unique tangy orange and berries dressing! The fluffy tortilla wraps are stuffed with crisp-fresh salad and kept decadent with avocado slices.

Pastas are prepared to perfection here. The Beef Bacon & Shrimp Aglio Olio (RM 18.90) possesses just the right balance of flavours, with the spaghetti cooked al dente and tossed with a generous serving of beef bacon (yes bacon is featured quite heavily in the menu here!), juicy shrimps and mushrooms.

It’s little wonder as to why this Grilled Chicken & Waffle (RM 15.90) is the crowd favourite here: with its succulent, juicy grilled chicken drenched in the decadent mushroom sauce, and waffles two-ways: one nice and gooey as it soaks up the sauce and one firm and dry, chilling with the pile of steak fries. We’re feelin’ the southern-inspired love!

There's always room for desserts! We fell head over heels in love with the pleasantly-plated Waffles with Salted Gula Melaka Ice Cream. The yummier part? The Last Polka ice cream is available here and is imaginatively featured in the cafe's creations.

The perfect end to any meal. Coffee here's pretty good!

If you’ve not given Bites a try yet, this café definitely deserves a priority spot on your to-do list! Don’t be surprised if you bump into us one too many times here though ;)
