What started out as a wife's unbridled affection for her husband by learning the intricate ways of Nyonya cooking from her mother-in-law, is now one of the top Nyonya restaurants in town!

We're used to Nyonya food being incredibly rich, and sometimes can be cloyingly so. What sets Little Yum Yum apart from most places, however, is how incredibly fresh and light their dishes taste! They also pay a defined focus on health, which is apparent in their strife to use fresh, organic vegetables and antibiotic-free chicken.

We highly recommend the Kerabu Pucuk Paku (RM16 for small, RM32 for large)! We highly enjoyed this bowlful of organic wild fern tossed with juicy, succulent prawns and cashews in this incredible spicy-creamy coconut sauce! Absolutely phenomenal!

Another dish we absolutely fell in love with: the Yum Yum Egg (RM12 for small, RM24 for large). It's a peculiar little egg dish, where the crisp outer layer of the fried egg is beautifully contrasted with its runny yolk inner. Topped with a delicious gravy, minced chicken and spring onion, this dish is definitely not to be missed.

We went along with all the house specials, like the Steamed Organic Tofu with 'Choy Poh' Radish and Dried Prawns (RM12 for small, RM24 for large). How can a dish so magnificent sounding go wrong, right? The silky smooth tofu is heaped with the slightly salty radish and dried prawns, which carry a delicious hint of spiciness as well.

Could not resist trying out the  Bendi Sambal (RM10 for small, RM20 for large). Look how green they are! Crunchy fresh too!

We were also introduced to the day's special dish, Perut Ikan Nyonya. If we're not mistaken, it's essentially pickled fish stomach cooked in a stock rich with herbs, including betel leaf and bunga kantan. Needless to say, we were absolutely floored by its delicate layers of flavour that shine through in each sip of the gravy. It's reminiscent of asam pedas, but its flavours are slightly more complex.

What's a Nyonya meal without desserts? Surrender to the greatness that is their Cendol Durian! What a delectable finisher to our little Peranakan cuisine excursion!
