If
you’re like us and have been struggling to find a decent Turkish meal in KL,
you’re probably just as relieved when this café first opened its doors in TTDI
last October.
Our excitement was a little
short-lived, however, when we glanced through the rather unimaginative menu.
We’re not seeing truly authentic Turkish favourites on the menu, and we’re
hoping some interesting mezes and at least the Imam Bayildi will make an appearance on the dinner menu in the near
future.
Started
off with some Falafels (RM15), which
admittedly would be more at home in a Middle Eastern restaurant rather than a specifically
Turkish one, but they were pretty good nonetheless. Whoever first came up with
the idea of deep-frying chickpea balls is a true genius.
The
Spicy Adana Kebab (RM20) comes
highly recommended, so we decided to give it a go. It’s one of those rare
dishes that claim to be spicy and actually isspicy! Fantastic flavours, and the beef-lamb mix is nicely juicy. That garlic
yoghurt it comes with is way addictive!
The
Kofte (RM20) (beef-lamb meatballs) are
especially good with a dollop of the mashed potatoes they come with!
The
Pide (RM16) is a crowd-favourite
here. The famed eye-shaped Turkish pizza is stuffed with minced meat and
cheese, before being baked to perfection.
We
ended the evening with a characteristically strong cup of Turkish Coffee (RM 8), and can’t help missing Istanbul all over
again.
