Nasi Beringin @ Menara Mutiara Bangsar

Price Range: Budget
Cuisine: Malay
Recommended For: Nasi campur for the indecisive
Catphobia-Friendly?: Oh yes!

We never knew such a famed eatery lies hidden in the second-floor food court of Menara Mutiara Bangsar! Lucky for us, we had Malaysia's top food expert to shed light on this hidden delight =)

Thank you MTS for the awesome suggestion!

The loooong queue at the Nasi Beringin stall confirms its status as a true crowd favourite. We're told the eatery has been serving its one-plate wonders for close to 30 years now!

A standard platter (RM5) consists of a serving of rice topped with curry, fried chicken and a side salad of cucumbers.

The rice is amazingly fragrant and buttery, made flavourful with quintessential Malay spices. Knowing how we Malays love our food with gravy, curry is generously ladled onto the piping hot rice.

To add a punch of protein to the equation, there's the fried chicken: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Some cucumbers complete the dish.

If you're keen to give it a try, best to go pre-lunch hour though! Food was completely sold at 2pm when we were there today!
