The Tea Republic Launches 9 Signature Tea Blends

The Tea Republic has recently launched nine exciting new tea flavours to join its current menu of more than 50 different types of tea blends and creations. Brewing fine cups of tea since late 2010, the tea lounge lies comfortably tucked in an almost-hidden corner on the second floor of Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Our rainy morning was warmed up with a tea-tasting session to sample the latest additions of tea blends:

Sapphire Grey: This traditional Earl Grey black tea is given an interesting twist with the addition of blue cornflowers and bergamot oil

White Diamond: This delicate white tea is subtly infused with rose petals and jasmine tea from China's Fujian Province

Ceylon Breakfast: From Sri Lanka's Uva region, this Broken Orange Pekoe black tea yields a strong, flavourful copper blend

Emerald Mint: Savour the refreshing flavour and arom of spearmint in this Chinese gunpowder green tea blend

Formosa's Finest: This exquisite oolong tea, with its semi-fermented leaves from northern Taiwan, yields a soothing amber infusion

Inner Peace: This harmonious theine-free blend features chamomile, lavender and peppermint, offering calmness in a cup

Coral Sunset: The playful blend of flavours results in this sweet-scented cup of rose-tinged tea. Ingredients include peach essence, apple, mango, papaya, hibiscus and sunflower petals

Imperial Bliss: Strong notes of lemongrass and ginger lace this Pu-erh tea from China's Yunan Province, making for a great cleansing choice

Ruby Red: our favourite of the whole lot! This South African rooibos tea carries a delicious caramel-vanilla undertone

A terribly tempting tower of tea

Each 2.5g pyramid contains one silken infuser, which needs only to be steeped in hot water. You can opt to purchase each pyramid individually (RM8 each) or you can also opt for the Gift Box (9 pyramids) for RM45 per box. They have rather interesting holiday-inspired designs to choose from, including Christmas, Chinese New Year, Aidilfitri, Diwali, and Merdeka.

The "Raya" gift box, made up of Imperial Bliss, Emerald Mint and Inner Peace

"Prosperitea" gift box, made up of Ruby Red, Formosa's Finest and White Diamond

For those who prefer purchasing loose tea leaves, their 50g packs are available at RM35

The teas were all the more enjoyable, paired with sweet treats as moist red velvet cupcakes, sesame macaroons and decadent mint-chocolate tarts

Despite us being true coffee addicts, we had a wonderful time reconnecting with the wonderful world of tea and are currently contemplating brewing a cup of Ruby Red
