Set Lunch @ Little Taiwan, One Utama

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Taiwanese
Recommended For : When you’re super hungry!
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes

A walk around One Utama in determination to find exciting lunch sets to add to our list ended deliciously at Little Taiwan. The set menu can get quite confusing, as there were a few different types of sets on offer, but at least there’s a huge selection to choose from!

We decided to go with the, erm, 8 Hotties* ones, trying out the Ma Po Tofu Rice set and Mongolian Beef Rice set. Reasonably priced at RM14.90, the meal comes with a bowl of stewed rice, vegetable soup, the main dish of choice, three mini vege sides and a bowl of egg pudding for desserts! All that for less than RM20 is a bit hard to process, but it is definitely a pleasant problem to have.

Luckily, Little Taiwan did not let us down taste-wise either! That generous platter of Ma Po Tofu, a super spicy dish made up of tofu cubes, chicken bits and mushrooms, will not be forgotten easily.

We also loved every tender bite of the Mongolian Beef Rice, which was kind of a delicious cross between black pepper beef and ginger beef.

Even the side dishes were amazing! The clear vegetable soup, stocked with carrots and radish, provided a well-flavoured start to the meal. The trio of sides, which changes daily, contributed greatly to the satisfaction of our meal through picked vegetables, braised egg as well as braised tofu.

The rice… wow, how do we even begin? The rice comes with a topping of stewed beef bits and is absolutely yummy! Even the humble little Egg Pudding surprised us with its smooth milkiness.

There’s also another Set Menu, which you can have a drink instead of desserts for RM13.90. The mains are different though, but we hear the Taiwanese Salted Chicken is a must-try!

  1. ooo, i haven't visited this one. i guess it might get a bit lost in the crowd of so many restaurants at 1 utama, but looks like its food deserves attention! :D

    1. we know what you mean! just so many things going on at 1u it can get quite overwhelming, though little taiwan's overly green facade probably helps draw some potential diners' attention =)
