Mukha @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Arabic-influenced cafe foods
Recommended For: Lengthy lunches and chilled nights
Catphobia-Friendly? : Quite =)

Somehow small, kitschy (we wonder how many times we’ve used that word in our blog so far…. Another word count we’re wondering: flavourful) cafes seem to be mushrooming in every nook and cranny of the city, giving us more options to fuel our fondness for mismatched furniture and chalkboard menus (an added plus to the growing number of indie-ish cafes: more places for us to pass baseless judgements on hipsters from the back of our coffee cups. It’s a terribly fun hobby that, try as we may, we can’t quit. We’ll try harder).

The intriguing thing about Mukha is that their straight-forward menu clearly has Arabic influences. Take, for example, their charming Steak Sandwich (RM 13). The meat slices are so enjoyable due to its Middle Eastern-like flavours, and is served with mint yoghurt and sweet potato crisps.

Their Kacang Fol (RM8) makes for a very comforting meal, enjoying the stew made from fava beans with Arabic toasts. We’ve been told to try their Beef Bamia, which we still have yet to do. Will be updating on that once we do!

If you’re a fan of mint-infused tea, give their Shahi (RM7) a try. Their coffee here is also pretty impressive, like their Cappuccino (RM7) and Latte (RM7). Interestingly, the latte is topped with ice cream. Kinda like a float, but with coffee.

For a hot, sweltering day, we recommend a glass of their Virgin Mojito (RM7.5). There’s also a mango version of this, if you’re into that sort of thing.

You’ve got your sandwich, you’ve washed it down with some tea… and a craving for desserts suddenly hit you, you say? Not a problem, their interesting range of desserts awaits you dutifully. =)
