We
know we come across rather gluttonous with all our foodventures, but we do look
for healthy eating options as well and have been trying out a few organic
restaurants in the city. One of the places we really enjoyed was EcoGreen in
Taman Tun.
It
used to be a quiet little unassuming restaurant that we barely even noticed,
but their recent refurbishment shebang recently really made the place stand
out. The interiors are very minimalistic and clean-cut, which we feel befits an
organic eatery.
Despite
what the sign says, the service here is rather quick, fortunately for us.
Our ultimate favourite dish here, which came highly
recommended, is their Lemongrass Salad
(RM18.90). The salad leaves are served with lemongrass slices, taugeh and onions all nicely tossed in a
sweet and sour lime sauce. It didn’t sound too interesting, but are we glad we
ordered it anyway. It is crazy good!
The lemongrass mix is served in a bowl, and you scoop it
onto the leaves, and roll it into a cylindrical salad. The filling is super
refreshing, probably due to the lime base, and is very Thai. Mixed with the
fresh and crunchy salad leaves, it is THE dish to have at EcoGreen.
Definitely Mokhtar Ahmad’s kinda food!
For mains, we tried their Organic Vegetable Curry Noodles (RM14.90). It’s nice how the
vegetables are still crunchy, and the gravy is really light!
We were also recommended to try their Basil Chicken Fried Rice (RM18.90), but
that was just alright. The chicken pieces were perfectly cooked and the rice
was fine, but the dish had a hint of bitterness that we didn’t quite like.
The great thing about eating here is that, after your
meal you can just step next door to their store to stock up on your organic
supplies. It is of our opinion that Taman Tun has about the worst selection of
eating places, but thanks to EcoGreen, eating in Taman Tun is a little more
bearable.
