Very, considering it’s a quaint little cafe

Our search for mille crepe was ignited when we were looking for a pre-anniversary desserts date place. Naturally, Food Foundry was the obvious choice, but by the time we finished getting ready, the place was already closed! =( God, it’s as if they were not clued in on our anniversary plans! *gedik eyeroll* haha so yeah, we were heavily dejected (more so since it was due to our own doing! *sigh*).... BUT! We ended up embarking on an impromptu roadtrip to Malacca the next day, and halfway through the drive it dawned on us that Malacca is home to Nadeje: THE awesomest place to have mille crepe!
When we got there, it was pretty packed, which to us is usually a good sign. They have quite a large selection of flavours here, including cheese, tiramisu, banana chocolate and strawberry. They even have a flavour called Malacca, which incorporates gula melaka in the dessert.
The friendly girls at the counter recommended that we try their original flavour, as well as the cheese one. We agreed with the original, but decided that the double chocolate was a little too tempting so opted for that instead of cheese.
Original Mille Crepe (RM9)
In case you were wondering, mille crepe is actually a French pastry made up of 20 layers (despite the fact that mille means ‘thousand’, but that would just be highly impractical!) of crepe, delicately stacked one after another. The original flavour was our first encounter of the mille crepe kind, and we loved every little bit of it! It’s soft, fluffy and not too sweet, just layers upon layers of vanilla goodness. One of the best feelings in the world is piercing your fork through the cake, and you can feel it going through one layer at a time before you pop the heavenly piece into your mouth.
The cake’s intricate layers
The Double Chocolate (RM9.50) mille crepe we had was really good too, but perhaps just a little bit too sweet. The bittersweet-ness of dark chocolate would have made this cake perfect, we feel.
For mille crepe first timers, we highly recommend trying the Original flavour! We’ll definitely be back here to try out which other mille crepe flavours are must-haves, and we’ll keep you posted!
Besides the normal dining tables, there’s also a cosy couch area
designed for hours-long chats =)
