Here’s
a good stop for a wholesome Chinese Muslim feast, made up of dishes fuelled by
a whole lotta passion!
This
cosy little family-run eatery has been around in Taman Tun since 2013, and only now we've stopped by. Cheery owner-chef Auntie Zuraina walked us through the menu to see what we've been missing all this while!
Let’s
talk about the Crispy Fried Beef (RM25 for small / RM28 for
large). We figured it would taste somewhat like fried beef jerky, but as it
turns out: not quite. The beef bits are fried to a deliciously crisp texture,
and its salty-sweet flavour rounds the dish up very nicely!
The
Salted Egg Eggplant (RM20 for small
/ RM31 for large) is one of the more interesting-sounding dishes on the menu,
and we happily gave it a go. The thick, rich layer of salted egg is an
imaginative alternative to the standard goreng-tepung batter, and goes really
well with the gooey fried eggplant slices.
We
were told the Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab is a best-selling crowd favourite
here, but there’s only so much salted egg one can down in one sitting. We opted
for the perfectly-executed Dry Butter
Soft Shell Crab (RM 35 for small / RM55 for large) instead: deep-fried soft
shell crab that still retains an addictive crisp, topped generously with an
equally addictive egg-butter nest.
Other
crowd favourites here include the Siakap CK Special, Kam Heong Chicken, Wet
Butter Prawn, and Crabmeat Tofu.
We
couldn’t resist ordering the Steamed
Tofu (RM10 for small / RM18 for large), our compulsory pick for a Chinese
Muslim dinner.
On
first impression, prices may seem to be slightly on the higher side, but the
generous portions more than make up for it (all portions displayed in this
review are the ‘small’ size). Plus, service is super quick and friendly too!
To
fully enjoy a meal here without being overstuffed, we’d suggest dining in a
group of at least 6, so you can try out their interesting selection of dishes
