One of the best feelings in the world is finally stepping into a restaurant that you've passed by for years! What makes it even better? When the restaurant exceeds all expectations and delivers a memorable meal =)

We absolutely loved our dinner at Chutney Mary, which we have the good folks of StarHero to thank for! The dinner was kicked off with the quintessential North Indian starter, Paneer Tikka. Basically firm cottage cheese slices are coated in a light batter and baked in the tandoor. The hint of black cumin seeds provides a delicious dimension to this starter staple.

Now this was incredibly interesting! The Tandoori Mushrooms' marinade of ginger, garlic and green chili in fresh yoghurt is absolutely delicious, and complements the smokey flavour of mushrooms really well!

No meal such as this is complete without some succulent and spicy Chicken Tikka!

Moving on to mains, we tucked into a hearty potful of Mutton Briyani. The fluffy, grainy rice is stocked with tender and flavourful mutton cubes.

Trio of accompaniments: the decadently creamy Butter Chicken, addictive Palak Paneer, and Fish Curry.

Any extra gravy left on our plates was conveniently polished off with various naan breads and also its thin flatbread cousin, Roti Roomali.

What we loved about eating here was that the food was not cloyingly rich; the gravies are not unnecessarily oily and the meats are mostly baked, but still retain their juiciness. A big wheee for Chutney Mary!

  1. Never try North Indian food before, looks just like the Indian food I've tried in Arabian restaurant though!

  2. With a name like that I'd be expecting a good range of home made chutneys.
