Japanese Cheese Cake @ Miki Ojisan No Mise, Bangsar Village

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Desserts
Recommended For : The best Japanese cheese cake in town!
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes

This little place in Bangsar Village has always been our trusted go-to bakery whenever a (rather specific) craving for Japanese cheese cake hits!

The thing about Japanese cheese cake is that it is arrestingly divine and perfectly embodies all that is right in the cake world: soft and creamy, smooth and pillowy, dense yet airy... The fact that it is very light makes it a great choice when you're steering away from full-on rich and/or fudge-laden desserts.

The cheese cake at Miki's is not too sweet, and apparently it is baked fresh daily so (here's hoping) minimal / no preservatives were involved in the making of this delicacy. We love also how it comes bare and unadorned. The cake has got such a curious texture, where the top is fluffy and almost bread-like, and cascades to a dense and heavier bottom.

RM20 may seem a bit steep, but it stops being an issue the moment the first bite melts in your mouth.

Just grab a box (or two) at the counter!

Interesting branding on the cake, no?

The bakery does have other goodies including dorayaki and swiss rolls,
but they (not surprisingly) are severely overshadowed by the amazing cheese cake.

  1. Japanese cheesecake is uniquely different to the western ones I'm used to. It's so much lighter.
