This simplistic, straight-forward pizzeria was just what we needed for a hassle-free dinner! After having our energy completely drained from just an hour’s trip to the H&M HQ (between the endless stream of determined shoppers and the mindnumbingly vast array of clothing displays in the behemoth complex, we surrendered in defeat and crawled out croaking for food), the scent of baking dough and cheese invited us through the door of Joe’s Kitchen.

Joe, of course, refers to Malaysian hip-hop extraordinaire, Joe Flizzow. The kitchen part actually came about later on, but originally, the name Joe’s was famously attached to the adjacent barber shop. Never have we seen such an interesting setup for a barber shop in Malaysia, and Flizzow’s hip-hop influences are apparent in the décor of the place.

Bob did need a haircut anyways, and while waiting for the queue to subside, we decided it was best to have our dinner first. Scanning through the simple menu, our mouths watered at the appetizers on offer: eggplant pomodoro, mozzarella sticks… Sadly, none of them were available that night. We settled for a Pepperoni Pizza (RM19) and Creamy Ham & Mushroom Fettuccine (RM16).

The pizzas here, we are informed, are made from scratch. And amazing they are, these crispy thin-crust slices with a decent spread of cheese and pepperoni slices. Perhaps this is just us, but what made us enjoy the pizza crust even more was that it reminded us a little bit of roti canai garing (?). Yeah, probably just us.

The fettuccine greatly helped to fill us up, with its substantial portion of pasta, mushrooms and ham. Its lovely garlic-herb flavour creates a great contrast to the creaminess of the pasta. Seriously satisfying!

All in all, we had a good meal, Bob got his dapper hairstyle, all is good in the world =)
