Making
peanut butter is honestly one of the most effortless things you could do in the
kitchen. Plus, it’s fresher and cheaper than them soulless, processed ones.
Plus, you can completely customize it to make your peanut butter dreams come
true (Add in chopped assorted nuts? Stir some chocolate chips in? Go completely
without sweeteners?)
Let’s
get started with this basic peanut butter recipe!
Ooey Gooey Peanut Butter
Recipe
Vegan,
Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Refined Sugar-Free
1
cup of roasted peanuts
2
tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil
¼
teaspoon of salt (we’re using Himalayan pink rock salt)
2
tablespoons of sweetener (optional)
1. Place the roasted peanuts in
a food processor.
2. Add in the coconut oil and
salt; start processing.
3. It will start to achieve a
peanut butter-y consistency after approximately 3 minutes. You can stop here if
you’re a fan of chunky peanut butter.
4. If you prefer a smoother
texture, continue processing it for 3 – 4 minutes until it is completely
smooth.
5. If you’d like some sweetness
to your peanut butter, feel free to stir a couple of tablespoons of your
sweetener of choice into the mix.
Note:
adding in organic maple syrup tends to roughen the consistency, somehow. We’ve
not tried agave nectar or coconut nectar for this recipe, but if you’re into total
smoothness, perhaps you could experiment with either of these two?
And here comes the best part: topping your morning toast or smoothie bowl with a generous dollop of peanut butter! We're a little obsessed with this Peanut Butter-Banana toast on sprouted bread!
With Ramadhan around the corner, you might wanna have a jar or two handy for quick sahur meals too!
