Kafe @ Ubud, Bali

Cuisine : Vegan / vegetarian with amazing raw options
Recommended For : Chilling-with-coffee-and-a-book kinda place

We seriously feel the easiest (and yummiest) way to go vegan is to move to Ubud! Jalan Hanoman, especially, is lined with such amazing vegan restaurants, and Kafe was undoubtedly one of our top picks!

Peruvie Chicken @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Peruvian
Recommended For : An exotic spin to a routine dinner
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes

This eye-catching restaurant has been gracing the increasingly interesting foodscapes of Taman Tun for a few months now, and certainly brings an exotic twist to the current dining options.

Stepping into the vibrantly colourful restaurant, and being greeted by lively Latin music that tempted us to sashay our way to the table, our first impression of Peruvie Chicken was highly positive.

Recipe: Tex-Mex Ratatouille

What may sound like a well-thought-out exotic dish, combining well-loved Mexican and French flavours, is actually the result of a dwindling pantry and an urgent pang of hunger. The amazing thing about the ingredients used, however, is how well they actually complement each other! You've got the sweet-crunchiness of zucchini and bell peppers, slight meatiness of eggplants, rounded off with the wholesomeness of mixed beans in a hearty tomato base.

The Red Beanbag @ Solaris Dutamas

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Western
Recommended For : A weekend brunch
Catphobia-Friendly? : Yes! =)

It’s always great to wake up only to be greeted by a plateful of goodness! There’s just nothing better than spending an off day sitting in a sunny cafe, tucking into piping hot eggs and toast, discussing about nothing and everything over cup(s) of coffee. It’s also so much better when that cup of latte actually comes with a bar of Tim Tam! Yeps, in keeping with the Aussie vibe that The Red Beanbag emanates, you can choose to Tim Tam Slam the coffee beverage of your choice! The coffee here is superbly rich, and the best way to have it really is without any sugar, as bites of Tim Tam in between gives such an interesting, chocolatey dimension to every satisfying sip.

Mukha @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Price Range : Mid-range
Cuisine : Arabic-influenced cafe foods
Recommended For: Lengthy lunches and chilled nights
Catphobia-Friendly? : Quite =)

Somehow small, kitschy (we wonder how many times we’ve used that word in our blog so far…. Another word count we’re wondering: flavourful) cafes seem to be mushrooming in every nook and cranny of the city, giving us more options to fuel our fondness for mismatched furniture and chalkboard menus (an added plus to the growing number of indie-ish cafes: more places for us to pass baseless judgements on hipsters from the back of our coffee cups. It’s a terribly fun hobby that, try as we may, we can’t quit. We’ll try harder).

Kacang pool lovers rejoice! If you are in Johor Bahru and craving for a mangkuk of the good stuff , it just HAS to be at Kacang Pool Haji. For those who may not be very familiar with this dish, kacang pool is a type of stew made with foul beans (also known as fava beans).
