At a glance, Fikcles fits right in with the current quirky café troupe with its adorably-painted façade and its coffee-scented interior. But scan through the menu and you’ll find this genius creation that sets this cosy café significantly apart:
We’re talking about the Salted Egg Squid Wrap (RM15.90). Have you ever heard of anything so delectable stuffed between tortillas?
The generous portion comes with awesomely thick fries and a little bowl of side salad. The squid, coated in batter and deep-fried, is mind-blowing with its salted egg gravy and bits of chili padi. This is, hands down, one of the most amazing things we have tasted this year!
Spending a rather long-winded evening here, we came to learn that diners here almost always opt for the squid wrap, or the other crowd favourite: Montecristo Sandwich (RM18.90).
The regal-sounding dish more than lives up to its name, with its incredibly juicy chicken thighs and slightly fatty bacon strips stuffed between fluffy French toasts! If you’re looking for the real deal, this is IT!
There is also a little bakery section here, and they have a Bread Set (RM10.90) that consists of assorted danish pastries and some croissants as part of their All-Day Breakfast offering. All the food and pastries are prepared in-house.
What’s a café without coffee, yes? It’s a good place to wind down with some latte, whether hot (RM9.90) or iced (RM11.90).
The café name, we felt, is quite catchy and further probing into its origins revealed that the misspelling is intentional, in honour of one of its owners’ names, Taufik. “Also, we’ve got so much ideas on what to serve, so even if one day we lari concept from what we are now, it’s okay because, well, we’re “fickle” after all,” laughed their chef. With the café only being about 4 months old, Fikcles is actively innovating to expand their menu, so keep a lookout for even more exotic creations soon!
