Abah & Sons Co Motocafe @ Lake Fields, Sg Besi

Chancing across this adorable-looking place online, we made a point to drive all the way to Sg Besi last night to give this place a try (we're gonna pretend we're totally unfazed by the alarming amount of petrol we tend to carelessly consume in the name of food).

In these times of kitschy cafes on every corner, Abah and Sons ups the quirkiness a notch with its workshop-themed cafe. 

The compact space is well furnished with motorbike-themed decor. Our seats, which we unfortunately did not snap photos of, were large tin cans! Bob was rather concerned his seat might collapse accordion-style halfway through dinner! 

Menu is a straightforward two-pager: coffee and tea dominate the first, while breakfast foods, pasta, and one proper main dish in the form of stuffed chicken are laid out on the second. 

The awesome part was, their all-day breakfast menu was literally available all day, even at night! Though we shouldn't have been so quick to rejoice, as this was what arrived on our table:

This is supposed to be Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon (RM16): english muffin topped with smoked salmon and avocado. Notice how the menu uses the plural of eggs, but what we were served with was one heartbreakingly sloppy "poached" egg. It looks like the kind of incoherent mess we make at home when we attempt to make poached eggs. Realizing we have zero poaching skills, we've been happily getting our poached eggs fix at eateries here and there. And yet there we were, paying RM16 for the kind of mess we could've effortlessly made at home =(

    

The Motocafe Stuffed Chicken (RM22) fared slightly better as the mushroom-stuffed chicken breast is quite juicy. However, the seasoning seems pretty one-dimensional and does nothing to excite the taste buds. 

No, we didn't stick around for coffee.
