No gastronomical visit to Penang is complete without a bowl of laksa! With its thick sour-spicy gravy stock-filled with poached-then-flaked fish, it is no wonder that Penang Assam Laksa was awarded #7 of the World's 50 Most Delicious Foods 2011, as compiled by CNN Travel.
Laksa Janggus in Balik Pulau seems to be the most popular laksa joint, as evident by its immense popularity in the blogosphere, and off we set on our journey to see what the hype is all about.
They've got quite a neat McD-esque system where you place your order at the counter, pay for your food and trot to the nearest empty spot with your piping hot bowl of laksa. A normal bowl of laksa will only set you back a mere RM2.50 per bowl, or RM3.50 if you prefer the Special version that comes with boiled egg and extra gravy.
Honestly, the laksa here is not the best bowl we have ever had, but for what it's worth, it is still a pretty decent find =)
