A few years back when we first wanted to try this place out, we Googled it and barely anything relevant came up. Now, type ‘Ikan Bakar Muara Sg Duyong’ and there’s at least 10 blogs giving detailed accounts of their foodventures here! Their rapidly-increasing popularity is most probably due their back-to-basic success recipe: crazy good food at a crazy cheap price! We were hooked the first time we ate here 2 years ago, and have never missed coming back here every time we make a trip down to Malacca!
The moment you sit, these will arrive on your table:
You could ask for nasi putih to eat with your lauk, but we always go for the nasi lemak bungkus =)
Like most ikan bakar places, you first choose your (super fresh) seafood and how you want them cooked.
Below are some dishes that we just can’t seem to stop ordering each time we come by:
Hands-down our favourite dish here: Udang Masak Garlic Butter! A definite must-have, even for non-prawn fans! (Julie: this is about the only time I would actually eat prawns, they’re that good!) The prawns’ sweetness is well-complimented by the perfectly-seasoned garlic butter gravy.
Mussels Masak Cili: What makes this dish nice is the spiciness of the sambal. Also, it’s probably due to some kinda cooking technique that they’ve perfected or something, but the isi of the mussels are so soft!
A basic, humble dish, but they do it so right: Sotong Goreng Tepung. The squids have a light, crispy coating and are unbelievably tender!
Kerang Rebus
And, of course, their Ikan Bakar! Quite a variety of fish to choose from but we always end up going for Ikan Pari. You can opt for bakar kosong, but if you’re the type who loves your grilled fish spicy, ask for bakar cili =)
Can you believe that we ordered all of the abovementioned dishes, plus a vege dish and a whole lot of drinks, and the total bill only came up to RM136.60? O.o
