Roasted Cauliflower Fries Recipe

If it weren’t for its distinctive shape, many people who have tried these roasted cauliflowers wouldn’t have guessed that that’s exactly what they’re eating! Roasted cauliflower is also a favourite in the clean-eating realm for being a healthier alternative to French fries, due to its similar taste when roasted.

Keen to give it a go yourself? Read on for the how-to!

Roasted Cauliflower Fries Recipe
Vegan, Soy-Free, Nut-Free, Gluten-Free

Ingredients:
1 cauliflower head, cut into florets
1/4 cup extra virgin coconut oil
2 tablespoons Italian herb mix*
Sea salt + cayenne pepper
*you can find several brands of herb mixes around, but we love Hero Market’s mix the most!

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 200°C.

2. Mix the coconut oil, herb mix, sea salt and cayenne pepper in a bowl.

3. Dunk each cauliflower floret in the herbed oil mixture.

4. Arrange on a baking tray.

5. Roast for 20 minutes, or slightly more if you like them much browner (which gives it much more of that caramelized flavour as well).

6. They're at their best when they're slightly mushy and take on a faintly translucent layer.

Cauliflower can seem quite daunting in its raw form but it blossoms into an astonishingly delicious snack once roasted; it’s totally unreal! While it doesn’t taste exactly 100% like French fries, we do have to admit the flavours are still comparable. In fact, if we have to choose between the two, we’d much prefer a side of these roasted cauliflowers, with their complex layers of flavours and texture.

Yeah, we can see your face all scrunched up in doubt. Cauliflower over FRENCH FRIES? Really?

All we can say is, just give this recipe a try =)
